The Clydesdale Horse

The Clydesdale is one of the largest horses in the world. It was originally bred in Scotland and was named for the Clyde River. It was used for heavy hauling and pulling. After World War I the Clydesdale was replaced by machines and is now near extinction. Many groups are working to preserve this marvelous horse. Its main function today is as a show horse and somewhat as a riding horse.
