Public relations serves the dual purpose of enhancing a company's "buzz" as well as for creating TOMA - "Top of Mind Awareness". PR is an especially good tool for lead generation and business development, because it is earned, rather than paid media. Paid media, such as advertising, sponsored social media ads, etc. compete for awareness in a crowded area, whereas earned media is more credible because the prospective client may be actively seeking it out.
